Juxtapoz Journal – A Portfolio: Minami Kobayashi

To finish this week’s A Portfolio division, we take a look at the works of Japanese-born, London-based painter Minami Kobayashi. We liked her work at Et. Al final 12 months and needed to share these work of snippets of every day life.

Minami Kobayashi (b.1989 Japan) is a Japanese artist who’s at present primarily based in London. She makes figurative egg tempera and oil work which mix intimacy and thriller by way of their depictions of bizarre individuals, animals, and locations that appear vaguely surreal and ever so barely off-kilter.

She has had solo exhibitions at Goldfinch (Chicago) and at Frestonian Gallery (London) featured with Patrick Proctor, and had featured in group exhibits at Tokyo Metropolitan Museum, Setouchi Worldwide Triennale 2019 (Japan), Stems Gallery(Belgium), Dinner Social gathering Gallery (London), Western Exhibitions (Chicago), Dongdaemun Design Plaza (South Korea), and quite a few different venues. Her work had been introduced by Et al. gallery at NADA ART Honest in New York and Miami, and Goldfinch gallery at Untitled Artwork Honest in Miami. She participated in a solo residency at Kate’s little angel (Los Angeles) Kobayashi’s work has been featured in publications comparable to Elephant journal(Artists To Watch, September, 2020), New Metropolis (evaluate, February 2019).
