Ravenous sharks, two-headed snakes, and alligators that seem overly looking forward to a snack are notably much less scary within the arms of Lorien Stern. Armed with a vivid coloration palette and exuberant model, the Mojave Desert-based artist creates a daring ceramic menagerie of among the most menacing creatures on Earth.

Even with tooth bared and claws on the prepared, the playfully rendered animals seem incapable of hurt. Whereas Stern addresses loss of life and among the strongest, uncontrollable forces in nature, her sculptures supply pleasure and goodwill as an antidote to concern.

The artist is collaborating with Dave’s Clubhouse this August on an exhibition of useful items at Memento of the Sunday, a gallery and studio area in Los Angeles run by artist Katie Kimmel. Till then, discover extra from Stern on Instagram.
