Wreaths Across America Comes to Town

This December, community members will come together in a heartfelt tribute to honor the brave souls who served our country. On Saturday, December 13, locals are invited to a short ceremony at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery, beginning at 10 a.m. The event will commemorate Wreaths Across America Day, during which 1,200 wreaths will be laid on the graves of fallen soldiers.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair to ensure comfort during the ceremony. This day of remembrance highlights a nationwide movement, with more than 2 million wreaths expected to be placed on veterans’ graves across thousands of locations both across the United States and abroad. For those looking to pay their respects, the Evergreen Cemetery is located at 600 South C Street.


Cabrillo High Aquarium ‘SEAsons Greetings’ Open House

On Wednesday, December 10, the Cabrillo High School Aquarium will host its “SEAsons Greetings” Open House, inviting families to enjoy a festive celebration. From 6 to 8 p.m., attendees can expect a delightful evening filled with holiday decorations, interactive activities, and the unveiling of an expanded tropical gallery display.

This family-friendly event is free and open to the public, providing an excellent opportunity for community members to engage with marine life and create lasting memories. Whether it’s exploring the aquarium’s exhibits or enjoying the vibrant atmosphere, there’s something for everyone at this cheerful occasion.


Christmas Tea Party at One Room Coffee

One Room Coffee is set to delight young ones with a Kids’ Christmas Tea Party on Saturday, December 13, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. This whimsical event will feature a festive tea tray, cookie decorating, Christmas bingo, crafts, and even a Peppermint Playdough table, making it a delightful experience for kids.

And if the holiday cheer doesn’t end there! On Sunday evening, from 5 to 7 p.m., One Room will host a cozy gathering for adults featuring seasonal tea blends, sandwiches, desserts, and scones paired with Christmas jam. These events promise to bring warmth and joy to all who attend.


Brice Fabing Bikes 4 Kids Drive Continues

The spirit of giving is alive and well with the ongoing 19th annual Brice Fabing Memorial Bikes 4 Kids bike drive. Running through Friday, this drive invites community members to donate new bicycles and helmets for underprivileged children in Lompoc during the Christmas season.

This initiative is held in memory of Brice Fabing, a former Lompoc High School student and athlete who tragically lost his life in 2005. Donations can be dropped off at 1341 Marigold Way in Glen Ellen, or arrangements can be made by calling 805-735-6350. Monetary contributions are also welcomed and can be made to the “Brice Fabing Memorial Bikes 4 Kids” fund at Coast Hills Credit Union. The generous donated bikes will later be distributed through local nonprofits, ensuring a joyful holiday for many children in the community.


SB ZooLights Returns Through January 11

Santa Barbara’s beloved ZooLights is brightening up the holiday season once again, running through January 11. Visitors can stroll through the zoo and experience thousands of handcrafted silk-covered lanterns illuminated with over 50,000 LED bulbs.

This enchanting display features animal and nature scenes that portray wild places from around the globe. Alongside the twinkling lights, guests can partake in interactive areas, seasonal snacks, and even capture magical moments with photos alongside Santa on select dates. ZooLights is open to the public from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. on scheduled days, with ticket prices ranging from $22 to $26 depending on peak and non-peak dates.
