Conwy Firm Poised for Global Expansion into New Markets

Robertson Geo’s Bold Leap into Global Markets

A New Home for Ambitious Growth

Robertson Geo has made headlines with its recent relocation to a new headquarters in Conwy, Wales, signaling a bold step towards global expansion. This move enhances its status as a major exporter and a frontrunner in geophysical and petrophysical services, positioning the company favorably in an increasingly competitive international landscape.

Dominating the International Market

With a remarkable 95% of sales generated from overseas markets, Robertson Geo has established a presence in over 160 countries. The company employs a dedicated workforce of 55 individuals who contribute to its impressive export footprint. This strong international orientation demonstrates Robertson Geo’s commitment to transcending local boundaries, aiming for significant global influence.

A Network of Approved Agents

Central to the company’s strategy is its robust international network of more than 25 approved agents. This extensive network ensures that Robertson Geo can effectively cater to the diverse needs of its clients in various regions. Operational bases in key markets, such as the USA and Hong Kong, enhance the company’s responsiveness and enable tailored services that resonate with local demands.

A Veteran’s Perspective

Sales and Marketing Director, Steve Parry, has been an integral part of Robertson Geo for 45 years. Witnessing the company’s evolution from a local service provider to a global industry leader has been an incredible journey for him. Parry reminisces about the early days when he was handed an atlas and encouraged to pursue sales with little more than ambition and determination.

He reflects, “These days, exporters have numerous tools…” from the internet and social media to webinars and government export initiatives. Parry’s insights reveal the dramatic transformation in how companies approach international markets.

From Domestic Roots to Global Reach

Founded in the early 1980s to serve British coalfields, Robertson Geo initially focused on domestic clients. However, it quickly set its sights on international projects, embarking on ambitious endeavors across Indonesia, South Africa, and New Zealand. By 1984, overseas clients began requesting the company’s uniquely designed equipment, marking a pivotal shift from service-oriented work to a more diversified sales strategy.

Parry proudly claims, “Many UK exporters focus on Europe. We decided to take on the world.” This mindset propelled Robertson Geo from having no exports in 1984 to selling in over 50 countries in just a decade. Today, an astonishing 98% of their equipment sales are international, with plans to expand further into emerging markets in Central Asia and Africa.

Investing in Customer Support and Training

As part of its commitment to growth, Robertson Geo is launching the RG Academy, an international training program designed to elevate customer support and training services. This initiative underscores the company’s dedication to not only expanding its reach but also enhancing the value provided to clients.

Mr. Parry expresses enthusiasm about this new venture, stating, “We’re proud to bring clients from across the globe to North Wales.” The RG Academy will be based in the state-of-the-art Conwy facility, serving as a hub for training and development, thereby solidifying Robertson Geo’s role as a leader in its field.

The Heart of Growth in Conwy

The new headquarters isn’t just a physical relocation; it symbolizes the next chapter in Robertson Geo’s growth trajectory. With Conwy at the core of these ambitions, the company is poised for significant achievements in the coming years. The relocation marks a critical juncture, intertwining local heritage with global aspirations.

The journey of Robertson Geo exemplifies how a firm can successfully navigate the complexities of international business while remaining rooted in its local community. This strategic evolution not only enhances their market presence but also enriches the broader industry landscape.
