Everything You Need to Know About the 2025 Voice Battles: Rule Changes and Key Details

The excitement surrounding The Voice is palpable as the Blind Auditions have wrapped up, setting the stage for a riveting season. This year, the charismatic Coaches—Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Bublé—are eager to guide their talented teams toward victory. With the Battle rounds on the horizon, strategies are being crafted for who they may want to steal.

How to Watch

Catch the latest episodes of The Voice every Monday and Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC and stream them the next day on Peacock.

This season introduces a unique twist: unlike previous iterations where Coaches paired up their own teams for the Battle rounds, Artists will now team up by themselves, leading to surprising duet pairings. While the Coaches will still select the songs for these performances, the challenge lies in choosing tracks that resonate with both participants.

After every intense vocal Battle, each Coach must decide who moves onto the next phase—the Knockouts—and who leaves the competition. However, they possess one save and one steal to still keep deserving Artists in the game. By season’s end, each Coach’s team will comprise six skilled Artists ready for the potential of stardom.

The Battle rounds: A Shift from Blind Auditions

Coach Snoop Dogg shared his enthusiasm as the Battle rounds began, loving the camaraderie that duets bring. He said, “The sisterhood, brotherhood, companionship” is powerful, yet emphasized the competitive nature of the show. His joy also stemmed from the new rules which allow Coaches to keep Artists deserving of another chance, thanks to the steals and saves mechanism.

Niall Horan highlighted the importance of growth among the Artists, noting, “You get to see what people have done since the Blind Auditions. Whether they’ve stepped up or not.” Michael Bublé echoed his sentiments, wishing to be “blown away by the Artists that execute some of the notes I’ve given.” Reba McEntire candidly stated the reality of the competition, saying, “There’s gonna be a lot of talented people that have to go home. Cream’s rising to the top.”

The Battle Advisors for Season 28

A significant highlight of the Battle rounds is the renowned Battle Advisors, who bring invaluable expertise to the Coaches and Artists alike. Last season featured stars like Cynthia Erivo, who partnered with Michael Bublé, and Kelsea Ballerini who helped Coach Adam Levine. The past gave us insightful moments, and now Season 28 promises more magic.

This round, Snoop Dogg is joined by the chart-topping star Lizzo, bringing her dynamic energy to the team. Kelsea Ballerini returns to support Team Bublé; her prior experience is sure to help elevate performances. The ever-charismatic Nick Jonas steps in as a dual advisor for Reba, while emotional powerhouse Lewis Capaldi lends his support to Team Niall.
