Host Bola Audena emphasized the significance of supporting local business owners who are making impactful changes in their communities. “We have some amazing businesses, some amazing entrepreneurs in our county, within our communities, just doing great things,” she remarked. Quinton Wilder, who co-owns The Oaks Bed and Breakfast with his wife, Sharon Jackson Wilder, shared their heartfelt sentiments: “This is an indication that we’re doing a good thing,” reflecting on the deeper community ties their business fosters.
Another finalist, Michael J. Charles, shared his thoughts on being acknowledged among such talented peers. “It’s an honor, actually. There’s a significant amount of success from the African American community; to be a part of that is humbling and encouraging.” His reflections highlight the pride and inspiration these awards bring to participants, fostering a sense of unity among Black entrepreneurs.
