World Boxing has recently announced its inaugural world rankings, showcasing a dynamic display of talent from the USA Boxing Elite High Performance program. This exciting update features 12 athletes representing Team USA, with a significant emphasis on women’s boxing, as seven women are distinguished among the ranks. Yoseline Perez from Houston, Texas, shines as the standout figure, securing a commendable fourth-place position in the women’s 54-kilogram category.
Yoseline Perez’s impressive accomplishment is a testament to her dedication and skill within the ring. Over the past year, she has consistently performed at a high level, earning three silver medals and one gold medal in various World Boxing events. Notably, her recent silver medal at the inaugural World Boxing Championships in Liverpool, England, is a significant highlight. During this championship, Perez faced and triumphed over two athletes who have already qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics, only to narrowly miss gold against a seasoned opponent from Chinese Taipei in a gripping 3-2 decision.
Naomi Graham is another prominent name on the women’s side, currently ranked eighth in the 75-kilogram division, making her the only other United States female athlete in the top 10. The list of women’s rankings continues with Morelle McCane and Marie-Angelis Rosendo, both holding the 13th position in their respective weight classes of 65 kilograms and 70 kilograms. Additionally, Jennifer Lozano stands at 17th in the 51-kilogram class, while Alyssa Mendoza and Jajaira Gonzalez round out the women’s representation with 20th place rankings in the 57 and 60-kilogram categories, respectively.
On the men’s side of the rankings, Malachi Georges has made a name for himself, securing the highest ranking among American male boxers at eighth in the 90-kilogram class. Close behind him, Carlos Flowers, Robby Gonzales, and Kelvin Watts each hold the 13th ranking in the men’s 70, 80, and 90+ kilograms divisions.
