Beninese influencer Nelly Mbaa, who operates under the moniker Afro Chronik, has expressed skepticism about Watkins’ portrayal of himself. She suggests that he reflects a Western expectation where young Black men are valued for spectacle rather than substance. Mbaa argues that his following is more about his hyperbolic persona than genuine connection or humor, stating, “If he were to abandon this persona — the constant grimacing, shouting, and controversial remarks — his audience would likely disappear.”
