Old Town Trick or Treat Trail Returns Oct. 25

Mark your calendars for a spooktacular day in Lompoc! The City of Lompoc, in collaboration with local businesses, is set to host the highly anticipated annual Old Town Trick or Treat community event on Saturday, October 25, from 1 PM to 3 PM. This festive event promises fun for all ages, turning South H Street into a candy-laden paradise for young trick-or-treaters.

Throughout the afternoon, local businesses will distribute candy from their storefronts, creating a delightful trail for kids and families. To elevate the festive spirit, a family-friendly gathering with kid-focused activities will take place at Centennial Park, conveniently located at the intersection of South H Street and Cypress Avenue. Best of all, all activities are free for youths, although they must be accompanied by an adult to ensure safety and fun.

If you’re a local business looking to participate in this sweet celebration, make sure to contact the Lompoc Parks & Recreation Department at 805-875-8100 or send an email to recreation@ci.lompoc.ca.us for more information.

Lompoc Scarecrow Contest Calling for Participants

As the leaves start to change and Halloween approaches, the Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce is encouraging local businesses—especially those in Mission Hills and Vandenberg Village—to show off their creativity in this year’s Scarecrow Contest. Participants are invited to decorate their storefronts with unique and charming scarecrows, embracing the Halloween spirit.

Scarecrows can be as whimsical or spooky as the decorators wish, allowing for both handmade and store-bought creations. The chamber will judge the scarecrows based on three fun categories: Most Original, Spookiest, and Funniest. To add a community flair, two major awards will also be given for the People’s Choice and Judges’ Pick.

Voting will be open to the public online from October 27 to 31, so be sure to check out the fantastic entries and cast your vote at linktr.ee/lompocvalleychamber. Winners will receive a certificate of achievement, ensuring they hold bragging rights until next year’s competition.

Interested businesses need to email membership@lompoc.com to register and submit a clear portrait photo of their scarecrow by October 22. Remember: landscape photos won’t be accepted!

Chamber Seeks Vendors for Small Business Saturday

Looking ahead to the holiday season, the Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, in partnership with American Express, is gearing up for Small Business Saturday on November 30. This event encourages shoppers to support local businesses for a day of community spirit and holiday cheer.

Local businesses are invited to join the festivities by hosting special sales or promotions. Shoppers will have the chance to pick up a map of participating businesses, providing an opportunity to explore Lompoc while supporting local entrepreneurs. By having their maps validated at multiple locations, shoppers can enter a delightful raffle for exciting goodies.

To participate, businesses must donate a raffle item, such as goods or gift certificates. The deadline to register and provide raffle items is November 17. The first three businesses to register will receive a complimentary swag bag filled with small business merchandise.

Participation is free for Chamber members, while non-members will incur a modest fee of $25. These fees will help cover the advertising and promotional costs associated with the event. Consumers can obtain listings of participating businesses online or at the Chamber building, located at 111 South I St., with finalized lists available on November 25.

To boost your chances in the Shop Small raffle, remember to shop at participating businesses, validate your listing, and submit it by December 4.

With these festive events lined up, Lompoc is set for an exciting season filled with community spirit, creativity, and spooky fun!
